The stories in this book cover each figure’s cultural background, childhood, and the challenges and opportunities they met in pursuit of their goals. A glossary of terms and discussion question-filled reading guide, created by the Smithsonian Latino Center, encourage further research and exploration. Twenty-three of the stories featured in this anthology will also be included in the future Molina Family Latino Gallery, the first national gallery dedicated to Latina/o/xs at the Smithsonian.

Meet The Author: Sabrina Vourvoulias

Sabrina Vourvoulias es una editora de noticias, escritora y narradora digital latina. Ciudadana estadounidense de nacimiento, se crió en Guatemala durante el conflicto armado interno y se mudó a los Estados Unidos cuando tenía quince años. Su trabajo periodístico y su edición le han otorgado un Emmy y un premio Edward R. Murrow, al igual que múltiples galardones José Martí, Keystone, y de la New York Press Association. Además de publicar ficción breve y poesía, es también la autora de Ink [Tinta], que fue nominado a Latinidad's Best Books (Mejores libros de la latinidad) de 2012. Vive en Pennsylvania con su esposo, su hija, y una perra que con solo ladrar los gobierna a todos.



Gloria Félix nació y se crió en Uruapan, un hermoso pueblecito en Michoacán, México, siendo el arte una de sus mayores inspiraciones. Cuando era niña sus pasatiempos favoritos eran dibujar, ver dibujos animados y comer, aunque todavía lo siguen siendo. Actualmente vive y pinta en Los Ángeles, California.
