Jesus: His Essential Wisdom

The teachings of Jesus have served as an inspiration to people around the world for over two millennia. In Jesus: His Essential Wisdom, Carol Kelly-Gangi collects hundreds of quotations by Jesus and about his teachings, through which the reasons behind his powerful and life-changing message are made clear.

In these excerpts—drawn mostly from the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—Jesus boldly calls his followers to a new way of life based on love, faith, repentance, charity, and humility. Arranged in thematic categories such as Love, Do Unto Others, A Call to Serve, Follow Me, Prayer and Faith, and Sin and Forgiveness, the selections reflect the essence and spirit of the message of peace and love that Jesus preached to his followers during his ministry.

Jesus: His Essential Wisdom also includes excerpts from poems, essays, hymns, and prayers written about Jesus, his teachings, and Christianity in general. Figures as diverse as St. Augustine, Lord Byron, Deepak Chopra, Thomas Jefferson, Pope John Paul II, William Shakespeare, Mother Teresa, Leo Tolstoy, Desmond Tutu, and Queen Victoria describe what Jesus means to them and offer insights into his profound impact on humanity.
