When an American actor finds his wife dead in their Mumbai high-rise, he quickly becomes the prime suspect in this razor-sharp social mystery. Perfect for fans of The White Lotus, Only Murders in the Building, and Age of Vice.

EVERY FLOOR HAS ITS SECRETS…

Washed-up American heart throb George Abercrombie hates India, even from his apartment on the 68th floor of Mumbai’s grandest luxury skyscraper, the Pinnacle. He hates the noise, he hates the heat, and just maybe he’s grown to hate his wife, the newest queen of Bollywood, Sweety Sahota. So when George wakes from a drunken stupor to find Sweety murdered in their bedroom, he knows just how badly he’s cooked. But where is Sweety’s computer? Or her cellphone? And where has his personal assistant gone?

As George scrambles to piece together the night, others in the building are covering their tracks. Sweety’s assistant must find who is blackmailing her, and a servant who knows too much goes on the run…

The Pinnacle is a dazzling and addictive thriller that’s three plots in one, set against a world of lavish opulence where someone is always watching—because everyone is hiding something.

Praise for Hunted

“Tense, twisty, and full of heartstoppingly real characters.” — Ruth Ware

“Flawless…. as propulsive as it is constantly surprising.” —Lee Child

“An irresistible blend of high‑octane plot, nuanced characterization, and smart writing.” — Shari Lapena

  • "The Pinnacle shows Abir Mukherjee moving effortlessly into the top class of thriller writers. It has all the verve and technical skill of his award-winning Hunted, with fascinating insights into the life of the very rich - and very poor - in Mumbai. It's also very funny."
Mick Herron, author of Slow Horses
  • "I loved this most thrilling of thrillers was such an enjoyable read. It felt like the pages turned themselves. Absolutely compulsive reading. Characterization was fantastic, George, whose celebrity is fading; Gemma, the PA with a secret lover; Amit, the house servant with his fingers in the till and the mysterious Miss Singh are either hunting or hunted across the wide expanse of Mumbai, a character in its own right."
Liz Nugent, author of Strange Sally Diamond
  • "The seedy underbelly of luxury living has never been better exposed. Fast-paced, funny, yet dark as hell, it’s a compelling read."

Harriet Tyce, author of It Ends at Midnight
  • "A superbly realized, expertly plotted murder mystery that drew me into its mad Mumbai world from the first page. Abir Mukherjee is so good at making you care about his characters as they plunge ever deeper into disaster. The Pinnacle is brilliantly entertaining - fast paced, funny and clever - and it delivers a truly satisfying ending. A real treat."

Jane Casey, author of The Secret Room
  • "There could not be a more appropriate title for this towering thriller from a writer at the very top of his game."
Mark Billingham, author of What the Night Brings
  • "I loved The Pinnacle. From start to finish you're wrapped up in a harried world of celebrity and stardom, ego and greed, love and loss. Mukherjee has the incredible knack of writing an engaging story, fast-paced drama, memorable characters, astute social commentary, and then peppering it all with his trademark wit. An absolute joy."
Ayisha Malik, author of Sofia Khan Is Not Obliged
  • "Abir Mukherjee scales new heights. Only Murders in the Building meets White Tiger. Funny and charming, but with bite. Abir's books are always so pacy, absorbing and entertaining that we don't notice that he's subtly teaching us something. I'm very glad he is."

Anna Mazzola, author of The Clockwork Girl
  • Praise for Abir Mukherjee's Hunted:

Hunted is a damn exciting read. It's also a brave book. Nothing quite like it has been published before." – James Patterson

“A pretty much flawless thriller, Hunted works on every level imaginable. Terrific characters are subtly and mercilessly pushed along by a plot as propulsive as it is constantly surprising.” – Lee Child

"Tense, twisty, and full of heartstoppingly real characters, Hunted will keep you guessing until the very end."—Ruth Ware

"An exciting, dark and kinetic thriller from one of our greatest crime fiction talents, Hunted is a must-read.” – Adrian McKinty

“Abir Mukherjee's change of gear has produced a masterclass in how to write intelligent suspense fiction. Hunted is an absolute banger.”—Mick Herron

"An irresistible blend of high-octane thriller plot, nuanced characterization and smart writing. Not to be missed!"—Shari Lapena

"A rip-roaring, bang-up-to-date political thriller that grabs you from the first pages and never lets go. Twists you won't see coming, nail-biting suspense and finely drawn characters that will linger long after reading. And at the heart of this book is a father battling to save his family. Unmissable." – Steve Kavanagh
